On a recent day, an 8-member delegation made up of representatives from the Flower Landscape Branch of China Flower Association (CFA) and flower exhibitors made a field trip to the construction site of the main venue of 2024 Chengdu International Horticultural Exhibition (hereinafter referred to as “Expo”). They carried out a site reconnaissance of their exhibition gardens, and held a discussion on the construction schemes of the facilities.

At present, the major buildings inside the main venue have been built, the site leveling of all exhibition gardens has been completed, with number plates erected in different areas. “This is GY14. The staff of the Expo’s organizing committee told the members: “By far, the preliminary preparations of the venue have already been done. Next, green nets will be laid, and fences will be set up, to prepare for the construction of all exhibitors.” Qian Haizhong, President of CFA’s Flower Landscape Branch and Chairman of Shanghai Yuanyi Seedling Co., Ltd., spoke highly of the progress of the exhibition spaces, and set forth suggestions on the supply of water and power, soil improvement and road construction of the facilities. He noted that the soil here was slightly alkaline, hoping to add nutrient soil for improvement.

During the meeting, representatives from the organizing committee of Chengdu Expo 2024 talked, in detail and in depth, with the CFA’s Flower Landscape Branch and exhibitors about the design scheme and construction of the expo gardens. The Expo’s organizing committee emphasized the re-use of the gardens, introduced the transformation and re-utilization of the gardens, advocating the use of durable materials during the construction. The concept of sustainable development is highly consistent with the exhibitors’ forms of display which are both scene-based and life-oriented. They expressed a common hope to incorporate more scenes of personal experiences involving life and leisure, and sports events into the flower exhibition, so as to offer better services to visitors and achieve greater economic value through the exhibition gardens.

It’s reported that the main venue will present more than 120 gardens in 7 exhibition sections, providing exhibition and communication spaces for participating cities, exhibitors, universities and colleges, associations and design masters around the world. At present, 101 exhibitors have completed the site selection and 108 exhibitors have confirmed their participation.
